Wound Care Program Consistently Improved Patient Quality of Care - Lakeview Specialty Hospital & Rehab - Wisconsin

The Wound Care Program at Lakeview Specialty Hospital & Rehab in Wisconsin, lead by Dori Schell RNC WCCN and assisted by Rebecca Schmidt RN WCCN, have consistently improved patient quality of care over the last five years at Lakeview Specialty Hospital & Rehab. Currently, Lakeview Specialty Hospital and Rehab is working through its 8th month of no In- house Pressure Ulcers, a significant achievement within an LTACH setting serving the most medically complex patients.

The interdisciplinary team consists of nursing, dietary, pharmacy, allied health therapies, central supplies and housekeeping, all focused on addressing and treating wound care issues. Lakeview’s wound care program adheres to standardized wound care protocols and current clinical best practices. Every Nurse, Nursing Assistant and Therapist plays a significant role in the success of the wound care program at Lakeview. The true sustainment of the program is largely due to Ms. Schell’s passion for patient care and education of the nursing staff.

Ms. Schell’s states that the key to her success is “treating each patient as if they are my own family member and taking a personal and compassionate interest in their outcomes”. We completely agree!
