Lakeview NeuroRehabilitation Center, Effingham, NH recognizes Mary Burnell RN-BC

Mary Burnell is one of many evening nurses at Effingham, NH’s Lakeview location. This past December Mary was recognized as the 2014 Employee of the Year at Lakeview for her excellence in nursing care.

Mary started off her nursing career as an LPN at Maine Medical Center working on the Cardiac-Thoracic unit. After receiving her RN she worked as a Charge Nurse at a skilled-nursing rehabilitating facility in Maine for many years. Looking for new challenging career opportunities, Mary discovered Lakeview where she has been happily employed and working in the Main House residence for over three years now.

Mary’s road to ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) Certification began when a family member suffered a manic episode. They were diagnosed with a mood disorder, Bi-polar 1. It was this terrifying and tragic experience that led her in the direction of pursuing ANCC certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse. The ANCC Certification Program is nationally accredited and ANCC-certified nurses are considered experts in their specialties. ANCC is the world's largest and most prestigious nurse credentialing organization, and a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA).

When Mary isn’t working at Lakeview she enjoys Landscape watercolor painting and hiking. Mary has hiked all 48 of the 4,000 footers in the White Mountains, as well as other challenging hikes in the Grand Canyon, Hawaii and Switzerland.
