Lakeview WI Director of Neuropsychology, Dr. Cindy Sorenson, Speaks on Veteran’s TBI

Dr. Cindy Sorenson The Lake – McHenry County Veterans and Family Services hosted a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Workshop for community service providers who are working with veterans who have sustained a brain injury and their families on Tuesday, March 25th, 2014. Lakeview Wisconsin’s Dr. Cindy Sorenson, Clinical Director for the Lakeview Waterford, WI facility and Behavioral Health Clinics, presented on Brain Injury and Neuropsychological Assessment to over 100 participants. This veterans and brain injury event was sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of Illinois and the Illinois Joining Forces (IJF) program.  IJF members provide services and programs to veterans and their families. Additional sessions at the workshop addressed military culture, IEDs, PTSD, TBI 101, Assessment of Brain Injury, Effective Communication Strategies for Professionals Working with Individuals who have Sustained Brain Injury, and a Call to Action.  Lakeview proudly serves veterans with brain injury, PTSD and related conditions in rehabilitation, supported living, outpatient and long-term acute care hospital settings (LTAC), and has been a participant in the ‘Assisted Living for Veterans with TBI’ pilot project in WI and NH, as well as managing the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center – Charlottesville, VA model community re-entry program from 2005-2009.
