Lakeview Wisconsin

Caroline Feller, Director of Community Relations & Development spent Wednesday February 19, 2014 at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in Milwaukee. For the past six years, Ms. Feller presents Brain Injury 101 to the Honors Anatomy and Physiology class. The class is comprised of over 70 aspiring juniors and seniors. Ms. Feller highlights basic brain neuro-anatomy, brain-behavior relations, functional implications of a brain injury and family role changes. The students engage in discussions around sports related concussions, adverse effects of alcohol and drug use while driving, and the rehabilitation journey after one sustains an injury. The focus of the visit each year is to increase the awareness of brain injury through reminding the students a brain injury can happen at any time, anywhere and to anyone; a brain injury does not discriminate. Ms. Feller states,” I look forward to this invitation each year to share my passion for brain injury and with the hope to inspire future professionals to enter this rewarding and compelling field”.
